Honey Products Limited (HPL) operates the enterprise and supervises the management and operation of micro-franchises across the country. The SEED Initiative provided seed funding and capacity building during start-up phase of the enterprise. AFRICAN BEEKEEPERS Limited from Kenya provided technical assistance for honey processing and beekeeping equipment. The Rural Livelihoods and Economic Enhancement Programme (RLEEP) provided support towards extension services to reach over 1500 smallholder beekeepers. The enterprise also worked with the Business Linkages Matching Fund (BLMF) to identify resources for purchase of a honey filtering machine. With Yamba Malawi (formerly known as Goods for Good), HPL implemented a beekeeping revolving fund project targeting vulnerable children like orphans, child headed households, women and other social underprivileged people under Ufulu Community based Organization (CBO). Overall HPL has distributed over 3500 Malawi standard beehives and over 5,000 Langstroth beehives with other modern beekeeping equipment and trained over 1,500 beekeepers across Malawi.
